Benny Morentin is the Director of Tennis.  He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the club. He is a member of both the PTR and the USPTA.  In 2013, Benny was named PTR pro of the year for Arizona.  With the PTR, Benny is a certified clinician and is certified to teach 10 years and under children as well as 11-17 year olds.  For more than 25 years, Benny inspired junior players in the Tucson community.  He has been Assistant Head Pro at Tucson Racquet Club, Director of Tennis at Omni Tucson National, and Director of Tennis at Tucson Country Club and La Mariposa.  He has been the coach for the USTA inter-district and inter-sectional teams and Area Training Center.  Many of Benny’s students have gone on to become successful high school and collegiate athletes, as well as nationally ranked juniors.  Additionally, Benny teaches adults and interclub teams.  He has coached five USTA teams to Nationals in the past six years at Tucson Country Club.

Benny’s own accomplishments include All-American collegiate player and he was ranked 4th in the nation in doubles while at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.  He played three years at the USTA National 5.0 Tennis Championships and was a member of the 2010 USTA National 4.5 team and the 2022 USTA National 8.0 mixed team.  In 2008, Benny was one of a small group of professionals in Tucson to have been invited to complete the USTA Elite Coaches High Performance Training class.  This accolade truly establishes Benny Morentin as one of the top tennis-teaching professionals in the area, as evidenced by his coaching popularity from beginners to elite players.  Benny serves on the USTA High Performance Junior Committee and is also a board member of the Abilene Tennis Association (a USTA community tennis association).

Chris Causer is a 2021 graduate of McMurry University where he majored in Environmental Science. He played four years with the War Hawks as part of the Men’s Tennis Team. He was coached by Mark Hawthorn, Bryan Rainwater, and Chris Breaux.  At McMurry he earned Academic All-ASC for the 2020-2021 season, and ITA Scholar-Athlete during his 2019-2020 season. He is from Lubbock Texas where he graduated from Lubbock Monterey in 2017. As his time as a Plainsman, he earned three varsity letters under coach Matt Boedeker. He was an honorable mention in his 2014-2015 season and earned first team all-district his 2015-2016 season and 2016-2017 season. Currently he is the Head Tennis Professional for both North and South Tennis Facilities.

Sean Polk was born and raised in Abilene, Texas. He was introduced to tennis around the age of 8 and has enjoyed it from the start.  Through the years he was ranked in the Top 50 in juniors (Super Championship Division) and competed in USPTA prize money tournaments.  In 1986 he became USPTA certified.  He has had the privilege of working with students of all levels for over 40 years here at the Abilene Country Club.  During his time here, he has coached many juniors who have been ranked both at the state level and nationally.  Several of his USTA teams have advanced to the national tournament.  Sean’s goals are to provide training to students who wish to learn how to play tennis, improve their skills, or compete in tournaments.

Whitney played collegiate tennis at Abilene Christian University from 2014-2018. While there she was 1st team All-Conference for 3 years in a row, All-Academic, ITA Scholar Athlete, Southland Conference Commissioners Honor Roll, was undefeated in singles her sophomore year and undefeated in conference doubles her junior year. She also won the Midland Racket Club Collegiate doubles title her junior year. She had over 160 collegiate wins earning her a spot in the Alaska Athlete Hall of Fame. Whitney coached SMU tennis camps for 6 years, ran their junior program from 2019-2021 and was named their Women’s Tennis Volunteer Assistant for the 2021-2921 season. Whitney is from Anchorage, Alaska. As a coach, she strives to provide everyone the technical tools to improve their game. She enjoys teaching athletes ages 6-18 as she loves watching them progress as players.

Gary Range brings both determination and encouragement to others around him. As an Eagle Scout, he was instilled with some great values such as tenacity and a focus that is very goal oriented. Gary takes every obstacle as a learning experience.  He has a passion for pickleball.

He was coached by Bryan Rainwater and Chris Breaux.  He was a two time ITA national qualifier and an NCAA national qualifier in doubles where he got All American status.  He was also Academic All-ASC as a sophomore through his senior year.  He is from Wills Point, Texas where he graduated in 2018.  He was a three time high school state qualifier and won state his senior year.  Tennis is in his family as he was coached by his mother.  Chase loves coaching members of all ages.
